Mrs. Mellone considers it an honor and privilege to be teaching the first grade at SJA; what an exciting way to begin this new chapter of her life in Florida! She is a happily married wife and proud mother of three children – a daughter and two sons – all of whom have chosen to start their lives in the south after completing their college journeys. Following their examples, she and her husband decided to sell the family business and home, and move south to St. Augustine to be closer to their children.
Her career as a state-certified teacher has been richly flavored with the experience of teaching at multiple levels of education: kindergarten, the third and fourth grades, and an art K-12 curriculum. But her most defining teaching adventure came when she and her husband decided to homeschool their children through high-school. Shortly after their move to Florida, it was her husband who saw the St. John’s Academy sign on Route 312 and encouraged her to apply for a teaching position there. Through God’s providence, she was shortly thereafter hired to teach first grade at SJA: thus she began her journey with St. John’s amazing and supportive community of faculty, staff and families.
